03Mar By adminMarch 3, 20200News Special Olympics Nigeria trained Coaches in Unified Sports Unified Sports is here to stay in Nigeria, and to promote that, Special Olympics Nigeria organized a 3-Day Unified Coaches Training for Basketball, Football and Volleyball Coaches at the National Institute of Sports, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos from the 2nd to 4th of October 2019. Participants were orientated about Special Olympics, her history, volunteering opportunities, and programs. Michael Ani, International Basketballer and Special Olympics Nigeria Basketball Coach led a session on Unified Sports and how it drives inclusion to help coaches implement unified coaching style in their practices. Volunteers had the opportunity to put their learnings to test in a practical session. Other highlights of the training were Basketball clinic were different unified teams comprising people with and without intellectual disabilities competed in a tournament and a health and safety training facilitated by Obianuju Asiodu, Special Olympics Nigeria Manager, Health Programs.
